What to Hang Above the Sofa
The wall above the sofa is the one everyone struggles with. Too small and it looks lost. Too high and it floats. Here is how to get it right, plus a piece that suits almost any living room.
Get the size right
As a rough rule, art above a sofa should be around two thirds of the width of the sofa. That can be one large piece or a pair hung together. Anything much smaller tends to look like an afterthought.
Mind the gap and the height
Leave roughly 15 to 25cm between the top of the sofa and the bottom of the frame so the two feel connected. Keep the centre of the art near eye level when standing.
Choose something restful
A living room is for relaxing, so a calm landscape tends to work better above the sofa than anything too busy. Our Misty Meadow print is soft and atmospheric, misty trees in gentle greens, the kind of view you can happily look at every day.
